How can a peer review of work be helpful?

Having a peer analyze your work gives you a chance to get some feedback on your work. Your peers can give some constructive criticism so you could improve some parts of it. Reading a peer's work can also give you some new ideas that you could consider to put in your work.

ELP Progress

I am now in the process of creating the spider diagram. I've got a list of issues I could put down, but I haven't made the actual diagram. I've also thought of the topics I could use for b) to find different statements on clothing.

Plan for biography.

I'm going to create a story of an HIV child victim called Maggie. I'm going to be writing this story on Microsoft Word.

Story of Maggie (HIV victim)

·      Lives with grandmother in a small hut.

·      Grandmother takes care of her after mother died of childbirth

·      Father died of HIV. The mother was an HIV victim too.

·      Maggie was infected with HIV since birth.

·      Works at the gardens of the neighbour to earn money and food.

·      Hut is starting to be frail and fragile.

·      Maggie and grandma have to build a new one with lots of mud and hay.

·      Halfway done, they stop to take a break and grandmother slips on mud and fall on her back.

·      Taken to hospital by neighbour.

·      Grandma weak and paralyzed.

·      Maggie takes care of her for a few days.

·      Grandmother dies eventually.

·      Maggie has to fend for herself.

·      Works all day and eats half a bowl of rice everyday.

·      Months passed, she is all skin and bones, her body is too weak to do anything.

·      Sees a man walking around the huts with the village translator and a few children she recognizes.

·      Approaches Maggie, tells the translator to explain to her that he is from an organization called Global Fund and that he is collecting HIV child victims to send them to an HIV therapy institution.

·      Maggie hesitates to join the rest of the children, but does eventually.

·      Maggie goes to the institution, full of children just like her.

·      Makes friends, learns that life isn’t just work and learning to survive, but to have fun while it lasts.

·      Also learns that many in the world are HIV victims like her, and there is no cure.

·      Takes antiretroviral drugs to reduce the amount of HIV in bloodstream.

·      A few years later, Maggie volunteers to help other children that are victims of HIV.

·      Living a happy life. Always sees the victims smiling and laughing.

·      Months later, Maggie gets very weak.

·      HIV takes over her body, and she is on the verge of death.

·      Tells the man who brought her to the institution to tell the world her story, as she wants to inspire people.

·      Maggie dies.

·      Weeks later, her story is everywhere in the news. Posters everywhere, picture of her on billboards.

·      People from all over the world get inspired to help HIV victims. 

Discuss your impressions of yesterday's refugee assembly

I wasn't really aware of Malaysia having refugees, yesterday's refugee assembly really taught me how hard life is for a refugee. When the stories were told, they were filled with such emotions, it affected me as well. It made me realize how lucky I am to not have to run away from my own country, or be afraid of new surroundings, or live without education. I was amazed by the refugees' resilience and will to survive.

Human Rights Issue

The issue my group is doing is HIV/AIDS. We're researching on HIV positive victims from parts of the world. I'm researching on the children who are infected with HIV/AIDS in Africa. All my life, I've been hearing about the HIV positive victims from Africa but I've never done any research to find out more about it. Now, I have an opportunity to research about it in school as one of my assignments, so I'm willing to take it. I have never experienced being a HIV positive victim, so I would like to read about the stories of other people who are infected with HIV just to make me look at this issue in a different perspective and to make the biography I'm writing easier to write. I chose this issue because all of the victims' stories I've read so far have touched and inspired me and made me realize how lucky I am to not be infected with any sort of diseases like this.

What is the issues that you think you would like to focus on? Why?

I chose Troy Davis because I would like to know how this is an issue of Human Rights. I've never researched on an issue like this, that is why I found it interesting when i read a summary on him. Now, I would like to read a full story of him and why it was a HR issue.
