South Africa. SOJJ. British Empire Project Reflection.

The key focus of this learning opportunity is that we make an accurate poster on the countries that were colonized by the British, as a group. We should understand the impacts of a country being colonized. Also, we learn the different perspectives on the colonization. Like, the native's point of view and Britain's.

Yes we worked as a group. Each of our team members were given a specific role to speed up on our work.
Like, Olivia was to summarize the information collected.
Sorfina was to design the poster.
Jasmaine was to help stick the information and she also helped Olivia gather some information.
I drew a map and I also gathered some general information of the country.

We definitely worked well as a team. We got good information and our poster was kinda nice. It wasn't messy. Yes we achieved our group's success criteria. This is because we put negative and positive opinions into our poster and we explained about what happened from the beginning of the colonizing of South Africa 'till the end of it.

We could communicate more to develop our teamwork skills. Also, we weren't sharing some of the information with each other, so we should do that the next time we work together.

I learnt that I should talk to my group more. And if my group needed help, I shouldn't just neglect them and do my own work, I should help them as much as I can.

This learning experience has made an impact on my life because it has taught me that teamwork plays an important part in a group project and I should make the use of it. Like they said, "Many hands make light work."

I could elaborate on my ideas and information in the poster.

Actively Listening.

HEEHEEHEEHEEE. Puffy trees! :D
Actively Listening. It's an activity we had to do for starters in Humanities. We were told to grab a partner and label ourselves A and B. Then, we went on to KN. There were two pictures labeled A and B. Those students that were labeled A had to look and describe the A picture. Same goes to the B students. The aim of this was to describe the picture to your partner. The partner had to draw out what the person said. We had to use descriptive language and to be very detailed. We also had to use words like densely, sparsely, compact, big, small and tall. We also had to use our imagining skills because we had to have visual structure of the picture in our minds.

a) My drawing was KIND OF accurate. CJ did a really good job describing the picture, I just don't really draw good.
b) My partner's drawing was KIND OF accurate also.
c) Yes, my picture was easy to describe.
d) I found it easier to describe because I already had the picture in my mind which made it easier to imagine.

This task helped my learning. It helped me become more attentive by listening to my partner. If I didn't, I wouldn't be able to complete this task.

I should use more descriptive words. I should also use more imagination.

ELP.

Sorfina, Jasmaine, and I had done two of the selection. We did the eco-friendly house and the sustainable city.

Eco-friendly house:

We did a plastic bottle house because that way, we are saving the environment by reusing plastic bottles instead of throwing them away. We also have a solar panel on the roof because, that way, less electricity is used.
Sustainable City:

In the city, we have a park with a tennis court, a basketball court, a field, a set of swings and a slide.
We also made bubble-like vehicles that would not pollute the air. We then have normal buildings and houses that do not take up a lot of space.

Camp! WHOO WHOOO.

Ahh, the Year 8 Residential Trip. It was pretty fun! We did so many activities.

On the first day, we rode the bus to Bukit Tinggi. It took us an hour and a half to reach there from Nexus. First, we checked in to our rooms, then we went to the conference room to have a session. After that, we changed and had an activity. Then at night, we got to have our phones back. Felt so happy to have gotten my phone back for that 5 minutes.

The second day, we woke up early in the morning and had breakfast. After that, we were off the Cherating. The bus trip took us 2 hours. I was sleeping throughout the whole ride. Once we got there, all of us were satisfied that the hotel actually looked okay. We then, had lunch at the buffet-eating place. After that, we went to the beach to investigate on the waves. We also did some measuring activities. We were bushed after that.

Our last day, we went to the beach again to make sculptures. My team and I made turtles out of many things. :) Soon after that, we packed our things and returned to school. I had a really good time over there. :) I hope we could have that trip again!
